Closing Procedure

Steps

1. Count Drawer

Count drawer, add total of bills and coins on the line labelled “Grand Total”

2. Calculate Deposit

Subtract $300.00 from Grand Total and write the difference on the next line. This is the deposit.

a. Take the cash amount of the Deposit and put it in an empty bank bag

b. Write the Deposit figure on a bank deposit slip and place it in the bank bag

c. If there are any checks in the register, place them in the bank bag and record their check numbers and dollar amounts on the bank slip as well

3. Record Credit Card Tips

Add the total amount of credit card tips taken from the register and record the sum on the next line labelled “Credit Card Tips”

• If we record if tips is missing, the amount can be found under:
  • Reports → Sales
  • Press the text labelled “Show Details”

4. Calculate the Difference

Go to the “Reports” menu on the Square Register and scroll down to the section labelled “Sales by Payment Type”

On the line labelled “Cash” where is a green bar:

• Subtract figure from the previous line (Credit Card Tips)
• Write the difference on the line “the Difference”

5. End Drawer

Add $300.00 to the line “the Difference” and:

• Go to Reports → Current Drawer → End Drawer
• Enter this sum on the line “Actual in Drawer”
• Confirm the drawer close
• Put the slip of paper that prints out in the bank bag

6. Final Steps

• Record the Deposit and the Difference on the sheets on the side of the fridge
• Lock the register drawer and bank bags in the black cabinet
